YORK. Final Post

Misfortune or incompetence gave us an unexpected and valuable project to learn from. We put together a number of quotes illustrating some  of those lessons. Not bad for these days of project based learning.

What we've learned:

• We've learned that "England is an island".
• We've learned that you get good moments in bad situations.
• We've learned that Cheap things become expensive.
• We've learned that  in a problem there is an oportunity.
• We've learned that chips give you gas.
• We've learned that clothes can be washed in the sink.
• We've learned that despite unemployment there aren't enough pilots.
• We've learned that one should keep calm in frustration.
• We've learned that you should give advice to those who need help.
• We've learned that sometimes complaining is useless.
• We've learned that it is under crisis that people show their true character.

YORK. Liverpool visit

Taking advantage of the situation we enjoyed a second day of visit in Liverpool. We had our lunch in the park behind the Cathedral. We know it is not halloween but it turned out the park was a graveyard.  some literally danced on the tombs. Then Chinatown and of course... The Beatles.

YORK. killing time

Making the best of grey weather....some showing off their skills and playing reversal of roles. So much working out that we ll be really fit for the summer... but most important we've developed energency laundry skills

YORK. School Monday.

First day at school. Louis and Jane are our teachers. Then lunch in the park. in the afternoon a cat Hunting activity. a local architect decided to sign his building with the sculpture of a cat hidden somewhere. Finding them has become a tradition for all York school Children...

YORK. Harry Potter, Dracula and Captain Cook.

Magical day in Whitby. Two fictional and one historical characters, all linked to the area. 
Goathland is the name of the oldish and well preserved raílway station where part of the Harry Potter movie was filmed.
Whitby harbour inspired Bram Stoker to create Dracula.
As of Captain Cook we were only able to see the statue but from its promenade enjoyed a magnificent view of the bay. We had such warm weather that the bravest even dared to swim.
Big kudos to Rubén for having bought and started to read DRACULA.....

YORK. Arrival in Manchester

We escaped from the heat wave. jackets on!!!
On time and on schedule! First half of our journey completed. Easy passport check (thanks for all your work on the documents) and even easier flight. Now afternoon in Manchester and then bus to York.

Nos escapamos del calor. Primera parte completa y en hora. Sin incidencias. ahora en Manchester y con chaqueta, antes de tomar el autobús a York.

07:15 Bus departure to airport.
10:40 Departure. Flight number: FR-3186

 

Important! Do not forget to bring :

• Passport

• Spanish DNI

• Tarjeta Sanitaria Europea
• 1 approved bag  ( 55 x 40 x 20cm and max 10kg)
  Students who fail to meet these requirements may not be allowed in the bus.
  

  Importante: Para poder montar en el autobús será necesario comprobar que se cumple con los requisitos arriba detallados.

Pre-Departure Meeting. June 5.

All students paricipating in both trips to England (Totnes and York) are called in for a predeparture meeting to discuss important information regarding  final trip details.

When: Monday June 5th. from 11.05 to 11:25.
Where: School Library.

Due to our limited time frame and the large number of students we appreciate your punctuality.

This is a friendly reminder to all students participating in the immersions to York and Totnes. Please, remember that the following documents are due by June 1.

Calendario pagos York

Una vez gestionados los billetes de avión, y conocido el número de alumnos de 3 ESO inscritos en el curso a York que se celebrará entre el 16 y el 22 de junio de 2017, la agencia Lords IF, encargada de tramitar el viaje informa a las familias de la situación acual de los pagos tal y como se detalla a continuación:

1.    Pago realizado: 220€.
2.    Importe del billete: 135,14€.
3.    Importe del curso (sin billete): 580,48€

Resta por abonar: 135,14€ + 580,48€ = 715,62€ - 220€ = 495,62€

Así mismo se recuerda a las familias que los importes anteriores no incluyen el coste del autobús de traslado al Aeropuerto. El centro facilitará instrucciones a tal efecto en su momento.
