4) Did you learn about the natural and historical context in El Escorial? (Remember: Valle de la Fuenfría, Visit to the Monastery, etc.)

5) Did you like the visit to Cañada Real (endangered aninals, etc)? Why? Explain.

6) Did you like the animal footprints workshop that you did in Cañada Real? Why? Explain.

7) WORKSHOPS: Did you find interesting the workshop done during the immersion? (Remember: Jewellery boxes using streamers)

8) Do you think that the warning system used by the teachers was effective? How would you improve it?

- One person (or in groups) in charge of preparing posters to make people conscious of the following:

- Switch off the lights after leaving a room.

- Let's have more recycling bins in our school.

- Report to Paco whenever you hear the toilet flushing all the time.

- Reuse, reduce and recycle: It's all about the R's.

- Let's plant some flowers!

- Let the sun shine in and use electricity when necessary!

Green Patrol: End of Trip

El último día de la inmersión lo dedicamos a conocer el Monasterio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial.

Como el 1 de abril es el día de los inocentes en el mundo de cultura inglesa, estuvimos toda la mañana creyendo que tendríamos que recuperar las clases durante el fin de semana. ! vaya ocurrencia !! ;-(

A la vuelta al albergue, comida, entrega de premios y regreso a casa.

Los profesores queremos aprovechar para felicitar a todos los "green patrollers" por su colaboración, buen comportamiento y actitud positiva durante todo la inmersión. Al mismo tiempo recordarles que su compromiso con la patrulla verde continúa durante los meses que nos quedan de instituto para hacer que nuestro centro sea un poco más verde.

The Green Patrol Day 2

Mucho frío por la mañana y para combatirlo una caminata por los tesoros del Monte Abantos. La subida al monte empieza justo detrás del albergue de El Escorial.

Después de comer; competiciones deportivas y por la tarde un taller de reciclaje.

Incidencias: un tobillo algo torcido, un monedero perdido (y recuperado), más desodorante del necesario y el cansancio que ya se nota...

The Green Patrol Day 1

Uneventful trip :-) Así hemos recibido el tercer trimestre. No está mal regresar al instituto para irse de excusión y con buen tiempo; mejor.

Por la mañana visita al centro de conservación de la naturaleza de Cañada Real. Hicimos un tour por el parque y un taller de identificación de huellas. El parque es el refugio de gran cantidad de fauna local, y aunque vimos muchos animales exóticos la estrella fue Segismunda.... our dog :)

Por la tarde hicimos una excursión por el bosque alrededor de la Silla de Felipe II para aprender sobre la vegetación de la zona con los profesores de Ciencias y de Educación Física. 

Por último llegada al albergue, reparto de habitaciones y listos para la cena. So far so good...

El próximo miércoles 16 de marzo a las seis y media, en la Biblioteca del centro.

GOING GREEN 

THE Rs: 

Reuse paper, use both sides. 

Try not to use too much tissue and toilet paper. 

Try to repair broken things.

Pick up any rubbish when you see it and tell people who throw rubbish on the floor to put in the bin instead.

NATURE: 

Pay attention to the environment around you and respect it. 

Find out about environmental issues. 

Research what species are endangered in your area. 

Learn more about our planet. 

Go walking everytime you can. 

BE A SUPER CITIZEN: 

Talk about the things you are doing with your family and friends. 

Be involved in environmental activities in your area (tree planting, rubbish collection, animal care). 

Chat with your friends about projects ideas. 

Find out who your politicians are and tell them what you think. 

Write articles for your school newsletter and local paper. 

Find out what kids are doing around the world. 

Learn about neighbouring countries. 

Know what is going on in the world by watching the news with your parents.

INMERSIÓN EL ESCORIAL

El próximo lunes 29 de febrero durante el recreo (a las 10:55h) en el aula 112, procederemos a recoger el dinero para el pago de la actividad de inmersión lingüística en inglés en El Escorial el 30 y 31 de marzo y el 1 de abril de 2016.

El día 29 de febrero se traerá el justificante firmado y además se deberá abonar la cantidad de 90€ por alumno (para el pago del albergue, el autobús, las dietas, la visita al monasterio y el taller y las actividades en inglés del centro de recuperación de animales salvajes Cañada Real). 

(Nota: Sólo para los 25 alumnos que participan activamente en el proyecto de centro The Green Patrol).
